But when B.B. talks to the vamps, he brings trouble down on his head in the form of two thugs showing up at his door and beating the crap out of him.

When the gorgeous B.B. arrives for their private meeting, away from prying eyes, and shows up badly beaten, Silas is suddenly filled with a sense of protectiveness he has never known. Then getting one whiff of B.B.’s blood explains everything he needs to know about the sharp tongued hottie. B.B. is his mate.

The Valentine brothers take B.B. back to their home where Silas helps him heal and explains that B.B. is his mate. At first B.B. is excited, knowing what that means, even though he is just a human, but suddenly his is consumed with fear of what could be. Not that he doesn’t want Silas, because he does, B.B. is just afraid that he will hurt the gorgeous vamp because his parents were not the most faithful people, so B.B. is afraid of Silas tying himself to B.B. for eternity.

When Atty is rescued, but suddenly his new friend and one of Silas’s brothers, Jasper, is captured, and Silas beats himself up over Jasper’s kidnapping, B.B. can’t just sit back and do nothing. He wants to help find his new friend and in turn also help his mate from the guilt he suffers.

So B.B. sets out alone to find some answers, but ends up in the same predicament as Jasper. The two are now the captives of the same sick bastards that held Atty, a group of human traffickers, who want to sell them to the highest bidder.

When Silas and his brothers find out what has happened to B.B. and who is holding him and possibly their youngest brother Jasper, they know they are working against the clock to get them back before they are sold and never heard from again.

Can Silas find B.B. and Jasper in time?

And if he does, will they be the same or will the horrors they had to face changed them forever?

  CHAPTER 1

“Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! What am I gonna do?” B.B. mumbled, as he paced back and forth across his small living room while biting his thumbnail.

“If I go to the police they’ll find out Atty is a vampire, but if I don’t go to the police will I ever see my Atty again? Shit, maybe I need to go talk to the she-bitch? Oh hell no! Are you out of your fucking mind, Barnabas? Patrice Lovering will just as soon slit your throat and drink all your blood then to help Atticus in any way. That fucking bitch is no mother of the year that’s for sure. Shit! What am I going to do?”

B.B. dropped down onto his couch and put his elbows on his knees, his head in his hands, and thrust his fingers through his hair. There had to be something he could do. Atticus was his best friend and now he was missing. “I told him not to go meet some stranger at a bar. Damn it, Atty, why didn’t you listen to me? What is happening to you? Are you safe, or are you hurt? Did this asshole take you and cut out your kidneys to sell on the black market and now you’re lying in a tub in some disgusting roach motel somewhere bleeding to death?”

B.B. jumped back to his feet as he hissed out in frustration. “Ugh! I need to stop watching so many horror movies. Maybe I’m overreacting? Maybe Atty met this guy, they fell in love at first sight, and now he’s off with the man of his dreams and is going to live happily ever after? Ha! Yeah right, like I believe that shit happens. No one takes one look at some guy, even if he is hot as hell, and falls head over heels in love. There is no such thing as love at first sight.”

B.B. began pacing again, struggling with the idea of going to Atty’s house behind his and talking to his mother, Patrice. He couldn’t go to her, but what if Atty wasn’t missing and just trapped at home with that psycho bitch? Maybe he was sick? No, Atty never got sick. He had told B.B. that his kind – paranormals – never got sick, they were immune to human diseases. And there was no way Atty would stay in that house one minute longer than he had to for sleep. He would also never miss work. The two of them were taking every available shift they could, saving as much money as they could, so that they could run from Clearnight and start a life somewhere else.

Movement out back across in Atty’s yard caught his attention. B.B. stopped pacing and went to the window to peer outside. With all the lights off in his house, it was easy to see outside this late at night. Two figures walked down the sidewalk and stopped in front of Atty’s house, staring at all the junk lying around. Yeah, it’s gross, gentlemen. Patrice is a fucking pig and makes Atty live in squalor, thanks to her addiction to that damn paranormal drug Morte Cremisi. That shit is bad news to paranormals.

The two men walked through the broken gate and stood looking around. Who the hell are they? Wait, didn’t Atty say that a new coven leader has come to town? Atty had pointed the guy out once while they were working along the docks, but it was hard to tell if this was the same guy from this distance. If this was the new coven leader then maybe he would be able to help.

B.B. went to the back door and quietly opened it, then quickly made his way down the two small steps and crossed his yard. He slipped through the broken gate between their two properties without making a sound, then kept to the shadows as he made his way along the side of the house.

Listening to the two men talk, B.B. knew this was the new coven guy Atty had told him about. He needed to get their attention. B.B. poked his head around the edge of the house and whispered to the men. “Psst.”

The two turned in his direction and B.B. was filled with a sense of relief. He didn’t know why or how, but he just knew they would help him. He waved them over and watched as they headed in his direction, but just then the grating voice of Patrice called out and B.B. was filled with fear. He moved back into the shadows, but stood close, listening to their exchange.

“Who the hell are you? And what the fuck a
re you doing on my property? Trying to steal from me, huh? Well, if you know what's good for you, you’d better get the fuck away from here, and quickly.”

B.B. rolled his eyes. Yeah, like they are really interested in stealing all this crap. Even the local dump doesn’t want this shit. B.B. thought to himself.

The two hotties turned to face Patrice, standing straight and confident. B.B. had never seen anyone look Patrice directly in the eye like that. On the rare occasion she left her shithole, everyone in Clearnight Haven gave her a wide berth. The vampires either ignored her and pretended she wasn’t there, or never looked at her and just walked away fast. The humans looked at her as if she were shit on the bottom of their shoes, which she actually was, but they didn’t know that.

The gorgeous hottie with the shoulder length sandy-blond hair asked, “Is this the residence of Atticus Lovering?”

  “Not anymore. Now piss off.”

“I was told that until a few days ago, this was where Mr. Lovering resided. Do you know where we could find him?” Good question, Adonis, keep pressing for answers.

  “Who wants to know?”

“I’m Ami Blind and this is my partner, Imnotstupid. We work for the local paper and heard that Mr. Lovering went missing recently. We were just wondering if he had any family we could speak with,” Gorgeous man said, and B.B. almost laughed his ass off, blowing his hiding spot. Ami Blind and Imnotstupid. That was great. B.B. thought in amusement as he covered his mouth, willing the laughter to stay inside.

“I’m his mother. Atticus no longer lives here, so get lost.” And with that, she turned and went inside, slamming the door behind her.

“What the hell was that, Fabian? And what’s with the strange names? Ami Blind, and I don’t even want to try to pronounce that other one.”

“Am I Blind, and I’m Not Stupid? I thought they were great names,” Fabian replied with a smirk, and the other guy laughed.

Fabian, that was the name Atty had told him, was the new coven leader. Shit, he really did need their help. “Psst.”

“I think our little friend has sprung a leak again. And this time it sounds more urgent. Shall we?” Fabian asked, and turned back in his direction.

“What if Mother-of-the-year back there comes out again?” the other hottie asked, but didn’t hesitate to follow.

They carefully made their way through the piles of garbage as Fabian answered, “She won’t. I just heard the television go on. Something tells me she won’t move from that thing until she stumbles awake tomorrow evening. Let’s go find out what our mystery person wants.”

B.B. quickly moved away from the house and hid behind the shed that sat at the back of the property covering up the gate he and Atty had put in between their properties. He needed to get them away from Patrice and her amazing hearing. From what Atty had told him, all paranormals had great senses.

B.B. rushed back into his yard and went to the farthest point he could away from Patrice. A minute later the two men hesitantly walked through the gate and made their way to him.

“Okay, so you got our attention. What can we do for you, sweet thing?” The dark haired man asked.

B.B. spun around to face them and damn near swallowed his tongue. Now that they were standing so close, he had a perfect view of their faces, and wow what faces they were. Shit, the bigger one with the sandy blond hair, Fabian, was what the greatest artists of the world must have used as their subject when they created all those statues of the gods. He was a large one too. About six-six maybe and a yummy two hundred and sixty pounds of all rock-hard lickable muscle if he had to guess, but it was his eyes that really made B.B. weak in the knees. The man had eyes the color of shamrocks. B.B. wondered if everything on the man was big.

Then there was the other one. B.B. shifted his gaze to the smaller one and his cock filled instantly. Fucking hell, this guy was beautiful. Jet-black hair that was pulled back and tied at the nape, olive skin, strong jaw and high cheekbones, with long lashes framing his incredible violet eyes. This one was a few inches shorter and about twenty to thirty pounds lighter, but damn, he was covered in the same gorgeous muscles. B.B. found himself wanting to just rub himself all over the guy and feel the man’s strong arms wrapped around him.

B.B. pulled himself together and answered, “She did something to my Atty. You said you were from the newspaper, but I know that was a lie. I know who you are. You’re the new leader of Atty’s kind, so you can help me find him.” Damn, was that his voice sounding so breathless? What the fuck?

“I’m not sure what you mean, Mr…?”

“B.B. Everyone calls me B.B. Now are you going to help me find my Atty or not? That troll, witch-mother of his is responsible for this. I just know it. She hates Atty and now he’s gone. There is no way he would have just left me here. We have been planning for three years to leave this shitty town. We’ve been saving all the extra cash we could get and we’re so close. We figured another six months, maybe three if we took extra shifts and odd jobs. Then we could go and find a new coven, or whatever you guys call it, but one that would be friendly to humans, so that I could stay with Atty, and hopefully they wouldn’t want to kill us, because we’re gay.”

“Hold on, little man, and take a breath,” violet eyes said, chuckling.

B.B.’s mouth slammed shut and he put his fists on his hips as he glared. Little man? I’ll give him little man. I’ll whip out my cock and show him who’s little while I choke him with it. Fuck this thing with Atty was too serious for this guy to be laughing at anything. Didn’t he know how special Atty was? Sure the guy was big and muscular, and big, and gorgeous, and big, but he wouldn’t let the Neanderthal intimidate him. He needed to control his libido. B.B. fisted his hands, before he grabbed the man and pulled him down on top of him. He narrowed his eyes, giving the man his best pissed off look. Just because he had long purple hair and liked to dress crazy in his skin-tight pink mesh shirt, tight black jeans, and purple high top Chucks, didn’t mean he was a pushover.

“I may not be as freakishly big as you, or a vam... creature of the night,” B.B. whispered, then kept going without missing a beat, “—but I am not little. I’m a perfectly good height for my frame, thank you very much. Not all of us can be muscleheads who chew on steroids and eat babies for breakfast,” B.B. argued indignantly.

“Okay, little man, just calm down. I am not trying to insult yo―”

“Oh yeah, then why do you keep calling me little? You may as well get even more condescending and start calling me sweetheart and other gag worthy shit like that. I was polite and introduced myself to you, yet you haven’t given me the same courtesy. You may be big, but don’t tell me you are the stereotypical lunkhead who is all brawn and no brains, because I thought I saw a small spark of intelligence in there, but maybe I’m wrong.”

B.B. could see that Fabian was trying to stop the smile from coming and he wanted to smile too, but knew he needed to stay fierce if he was going to get this guy to take him seriously. But then, hottie glared back at him and B.B.’s heart actually cringed. What the fuck was that all about? The thought of this guy being insulted or hurt by him made B.B. want to cuddle up against him and apologize, then kiss him and make it all better. Ugh! He needed to stop this and focus.

The big doof crossed his arms over his chest and narrowed his eyes at B.B. trying to be intimidating, but B.B. could see the corner of his mouth fighting to rise up into a smile of his own.

Fabian coughed as he held out his hand to B.B. “You are absolutely correct, B.B., we did not introduce ourselves, and that was very rude. May I introduce my brother, Silas, and I am Fabian, Fabian Valentine, and I am guessing you do know who and what we are from what you have said, so I would first like to thank you, for keeping our secret. I would appreciate it if you could give us whatever information you have on Atticus Lovering, in hopes that we will be able to find him and bring him back safe,” Fabian said.

B.B. raised his chin as he crossed his arms over his chest, mimicking Si
las’s stance, and gave the man a victorious smirk. “See, and that’s probably why he’s the big man on campus and you’re the security guard. He knows how to talk to a man, respectfully,” B.B. sneered defiantly.

“That’s because Fabian’s trying to get in your pants. Being his brother, I know all of his moves,” Silas replied.

B.B.’s eyes widened slightly, then he spun his head toward Fabian, his gaze roaming down Fabian’s form then back up to his eyes. B.B. smiled and turned back to Silas and shrugged one shoulder. “That wouldn’t be a hardship.”

“As much as I appreciate that compliment, B.B., can we get back to Atticus? What can you tell us about his disappearance?” Fabian asked.

The smile fell from B.B.’s face and his eyes filled with sadness, then his gaze darted toward Atticus’s house. “We shouldn’t do this out here in the open in case Mommy Dearest is spying on us. That would be very bad. Although she’s probably already halfway to comatose on that Morte Cremisi shit. But if she’s not and she sees me talking to you, it could be bad for me.”

  “Why?” Silas asked.

“She makes Joan Crawford look like a happy homemaker mama from the fifties,” B.B. commented.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t understand,” Fabian said.

“Joan Crawford the movie star, adopted two kids and was batshit crazy as they come, and those poor kids had to deal with it and suffer her horrible abuse,” Silas replied.

Wow, he was seriously impressed. Not too many people today knew that reference. Maybe there is more to this hunk of burning love than meets the eye. B.B. thought to himself as he eyed Silas with new interest, his cock immediately filling again and wanting some attention. Especially if it was attention from Silas.

Silas gave his brother an uncomfortable smirk as he shrugged one shoulder when Fabian looked at him as if he were crazy. “I don’t even want to know how you know that. And even though I have no clue what you two are talking about, I am intelligent enough to get the message. Atticus’s mother is not someone to take lightly,” Fabian said, then turned his attention back to B.B. “But, we really do want to help find Atticus, and if you could give us any information to make that happen, we would be grateful.”
