“Yes. To him and the person whose dream it is, they are walking around like wraiths. The dream people cannot see or hear them.”

“You said he was also a traveler, or what was the other thing? A―”

“Journeyman,” Shay said, cutting Jesse off when he hesitated.

“Right, a journeyman. What exactly does that mean?” Jesse asked.

“Kia can travel anywhere at any time he so chooses. And I mean anywhere. Time means nothing to a journeyman. He is still learning more about that one and doesn’t have complete control over it. If you give Kia a specific date, he can travel there. And if you give him a specific time on that date, he can go right there to that moment in time.”

“Holy shit. So, if I tell him June 20th, 1997 at eight forty-five a.m. what happens? I mean, where exactly would he go?” Taylor asked.

“Touching you, he would go right to the place you were, in that moment in your life.”

“And would he still be this wraith, just observing?” Cass asked.

“Um…well, that’s what he’s still working on. We met another journeyman a year ago and he said that if Kia keeps practicing he could go in either physical form or wraith form. His body would stay here and his soul would go. He said even in that form, Kia would be able to control the events. But he warned Kia against ever changing an event. It could cause irreparable damage,” Shay replied, his face showing his fear over what he just said.

“So, if we gave him a time and date of a battle with our enemy, he could go in and change the events?” Raith asked as he moved closer.

“Yes, but again, that would be disastrous. You’ve heard of the butterfly effect, right?”

Shay waited for everyone to nod. “That would be it exactly. Even changing one tiny event from the past would completely alter the here and now. Every moment in your past has brought you right here, right now, to this moment, and has made you who you are. For example, say Kia travels to your life when you were ten. He appears in your room and by just moving around he unknowingly pulls the plug of your alarm clock. Innocent, right?”

Again, Shay stopped and looked around, waiting for everyone to answer. “So, now that he stopped your alarm from going off, you sleep late. Even five minutes makes a difference. All the original events of that day would then be altered. Now you leave the house five minutes later and you’re in a hurry. Maybe you get in an accident? Maybe you don’t meet the person you did on that day because you were five minutes later than they were? That person could have been the one who became your best friend, had the most impact on your current self and who you have become. So even something so small and insignificant can turn out to be one of the biggest mistakes in your life.”

“So, when Kia goes on these journeys, what does he do?” Cass asked.

“He observes. Knowing the truth of a memory can have a huge effect on someone. Like the dream, sometimes our memories of events are different than we remembered and aren’t what really happened. Taylor, you can look inside someone and go into their memories, see the events. How many times have you done that and the person you did it to remembered that moment, but their memory of it was slightly different from what you saw?”

Taylor nodded his head slowly as he looked at Shay intently. “You’re right, that’s happened.”

“And when you showed them the true memory it had a different impact on them, especially now, seeing the memory through older eyes, or from a different perspective.”

“So, when Kia goes on these journeys, can he take others with him?” Xavier asked.

“Essentially, yes. That is one of the things he is still working on. Taking someone to their memories can be very dangerous. The need to jump in and stop the events, if they were bad, is overwhelming, and could have major life-altering consequences.”

Cass was completely blown away by what he was hearing. He had never heard of anyone having powers such as Shay was describing. And for it to be his mate that had them was kind of scary.

“You said he could travel anywhere, at any time. Does that mean he could go to different realms? The Underworld? Heaven?” Raffy asked.

“Yes, but just because he can go somewhere doesn’t mean he should,” Shay replied.

  “Meaning?” Christian pressed.

“Meaning, he could go to Jupiter if he so chose, but when he got there what would he find? Would there be oxygen? Would he end up surfacing inside a volcano? Some places have too many unknown variables.”

“With these gifts, Kia is a soul healer, isn’t he?” Micah asked.

Everyone turned their attention to Micah, their faces showing their confusion. “A soul healer? What is that?” Jesse asked.

“Wait, I remember Papa telling us about that a long time ago when we were just cubs, but he said no one had ever met a soul healer, so everyone thought they were a myth,” Raith replied.

“Exactly. I always thought so, too, but now hearing this. That’s what Kia is, isn’t he?” Micah asked, turning to look at Shay.

“Yes. The reason no one had ever seen or met a soul healer is because it really takes two. A bonded pair, each with certain gifts that work together. Having the right combination of gifts between the bonded pair has only ever happened once before, over two thousand years ago. It is the rarest of gifts in the paranormal world. The journeyman that we met was not a soul healer because he had never found his bonded mate. That one person who had the other gifts needed to make him complete.”

“And Kia has found that in you, hasn’t he?” Cass asked.

“Yes, but also in you, mate.” Shay turned to look at Cass.

  “I don’t understand.”

“My gifts combined with Kia’s are what makes Kia the soul healer, but it is actually very dangerous. That’s where you come in, Castiel. Your strength, your big heart, and your gifts combined with ours will help us. It was fate that you were impaled by that demon sword. You would need to have those added powers to help us. That’s why even though I knew where you were, I couldn’t come to you yet. And once I found Kia, we still needed to wait. These events needed to happen in your life and you needed time to get used to the changes and learn how to control them.”

“You have been very angry because of these new powers,” Kia said, his voice causing everyone to turn. Kia moved closer. His gaze locked with Cass’s. Then he reached out a hand and cupped Cass’s cheek.

“You have hidden it well, but they have caused you great pain and distress. Yes, I am a soul healer, and with Shay’s help to keep me grounded, you, mate, you are our first,” Kia added.

Cass was shocked by what Kia was saying. His mates knew of his struggles? He thought he had done a great job covering it up, even from Taylor, but his mates knew, even before they arrived. And he was their first? “What does that mean?” he whispered.

“It means that your soul has been damaged,” Shay replied. “There are a few black spots on it that need to be healed. By healing our mate, Kia will be able to use his powers fully and begin to heal others. There is a lot of soul healing needed here in this family, so that you may all go on to fight the battle that is to come. Each mate that has been made for this family has been handpicked by Fate to strengthen all of you, not just their mate. Each of us that have come here have and will have an impact on each of you. Helping you each grow as a person makes you the perfect ones to lead our kind, our world,”

“So Kia being in my dream has helped to heal my soul?” Liam asked.

  “It has started the process.”

“So, you realized Kia was in there with you?” Xavier asked as he went to his mate and wrapped his arms around him.

Liam smiled at Xavier, then turned that smile to Kia. “Yes, and he was a big help. Thank you, Kia.” Kia gave Liam a shy smile as he nodded.

“Can we ask what happened? In your dream, I mean,” Jesse said.

“I was dreaming of Agatha, and her coming for Xavier again. In the dream, we were in Xavier’s room sleeping when she just appeared. When I tried to get
up and fight her, I couldn’t move. She began torturing my mate and there was nothing I could do about it. Suddenly Kia was there and he told me to get up. He held out his hand for me and I was able to move. Then the dream shifted and I was back in the Underworld.”

“And Kia was able to help you there?” Xavier asked as he placed a hand on Liam’s stomach.

Liam gave Xavier another smile, then leaned in and kissed him quick. “Yes, he did.”

“So, with you not being able to lie, and able to see the creature inside someone, and your visions, along with Kia’s powers, you two are essentially like psychiatrists of the paranormal world?” Taylor questioned.

“Something like that. With Kia being able to guide people through memories, I guess you would be right,” Shay answered.

“I know someone who could use some soul healing right about now,” Raith mumbled.

“How is Aaron? We haven’t seen him for three days since he ran from the basement after seeing Samuel,” Jesse asked in concern.

“He’s not doing too well to be honest. That’s why I was thinking that maybe Shay and Kia…” Raith said, then trailed off as he looked to them again with a raised brow.

“I would be happy to help your mate, beta. I just need some rest after going into Liam’s dream, but after that, I could,” Kia answered.

  “Thank you, Kia.”

“How about I take you two back upstairs for some rest, then they can meet with Aaron this afternoon? Would coming to your rooms work?” Cass asked.

“You probably would have to. Rory and I haven’t been able to get Aaron to leave since the other day.”

“Why? What happened?” Cass asked, then watched as Micah and Jesse gave one another a look that said whatever was going on wasn’t good.

  Chapter Seven

As they walked into Castiel’s room, their new room, and his eyes fell on the big, comfortable bed, Kia felt a wave of desire race through him, remembering the past three days spent in that bed with his mates. Many times over the past two years with Shay, he had questioned if the day would ever come that they would really find Castiel. Then as time went on, he wondered how long they would have to wait—five, ten, fifteen years, or more? But now they were here and Kia was thrilled with the man they were blessed with as their other mate. Castiel was everything they had ever dreamed he would be, and more.

“You okay, sweet pea?” Castiel’s concerned voice brought him back from his thoughts.

Kia turned to face his wolf mate. “Yes. I was just thinking.”

“Why don’t you go rest? I’m still not sure what your gifts do to you when you use them, but you do look a little tired,” Castiel said as he cupped Kia’s face.

“Will you and Shay come with me?” Kia asked. Shay knew what he needed after visiting someone else’s dreams, but Castiel had no idea. There was so much concern in his mate’s face that Kia was afraid to let Castiel know exactly what would now happen to him. He was sure it would increase his mate’s worry and maybe make him hesitant to allow Kia to help others.

“Of course, Kia. If that’s what you need,” Castiel replied and took his hand, guiding him over to their bed.

“Kia?” Shay said and Kia looked over to him. Shay raised a brow in question and Kia smiled as he nodded. Shay knew exactly what he needed.

They both sat on the bed and each grabbed one of Castiel’s hands, then yanked, pulling him down onto the bed between them. Castiel chuckled as he fell face first, trying to catch himself with his hands. Once he was lying down, Kia and Shay rolled Castiel to his back, then each attacked. Shay on Castiel’s right and Kia on his left, they both began nibbling and sucking his throat as their hands roamed over all his sexy muscles.

“Mmm, not that I don’t like what you’re both doing, but I thought we needed to let Kia rest,” Castiel said in a husky voice that sent shivers of lust up Kia’s spine.

“We are. Trust me, mate, we are giving our Kia exactly what he needs right now,” Shay whispered in Castiel’s ear.

Kia let his claws come out, then carefully used them to rip Castiel’s shirt, the two sides falling open, exposing his chiseled chest and abs. He and Shay moved away from Castiel’s throat as they licked and sucked their way down his chest. Each teased a nipple, causing Castiel to hiss and groan in pleasure.

They took their time exploring their mate’s amazing physique, then stripped him of the rest of his clothes until Castiel lay there wonderfully bare. Each moving lower in perfect sync, they avoided the hard, heavy cock, and nibbled his inner thighs. Castiel spread his legs, giving them more room, and Kia and Shay took advantage. Shay shifted his position and moved to Castiel’s side, as Kia settled between Castiel’s spread legs, but neither of them stopped what they were doing.

Finally, they moved onto their ultimate prize together, Shay on the right and Kia on the left, they started to worship their mate’s cock. They each licked a path from base to tip on either side, then Shay ran his tongue over the tip, as Kia ran his tongue around the helmet.

“Oh shit! Fuck that’s…shit,” Castiel said through clenched teeth as he shoved his fingers through their hair.

Moving back down, Kia angled his head, going deeper, taking Castiel’s heavy sac into his mouth and rolling the hard orbs around gently, as Shay moved back up and took Castiel between his lips. They moved together to bring their mate to completion, Castiel moaned, writhed, and praised them the whole time.

Kia felt Shay’s long fingers wrap around his cock and Kia moaned in appreciation, then reached out and captured Shay’s stiff shaft in his hand. He began to slowly slide up and down as he squeezed gently.

Once they brought Castiel to completion, as well as each other, they moved back up his body and each cuddled up on either side of him, laying their heads on his chest as they smiled at each other. After a moment, Castiel wrapped his arms around them, holding them close.

“That was just…wow. But what about my babies? I need to make sure you both feel as incredible as you made me feel.”

“We’re good, mate,” Shay said. “You were a little distracted, but Kia and I took care of each other at the same time we took care of you. We’re good for now.”

“You two are amazing, you know that, right?” Castiel said and Kia could hear the smile in his voice.

He cuddled in closer and grabbed Shay’s hand, then closed his eyes. He needed the connection with his mates right now. His body needed sleep, but he knew what would come when he fell, and having that connection would make what was to come less intense. What Castiel didn’t know was that now that Kia had walked through Liam’s nightmare, the dream would come to him, becoming his own as he slept, until he fought the beast, whatever it may be. He had taken it from Liam, making it disappear forever, by taking it into himself. But he had learned long ago that the release of sex, then the connection to his mate before he fell asleep, helped to lessen the terrors in the nightmare so that he could overcome it quicker, sending it away for good. Kia’s body fully relaxed and he was filled with a sense of contentment as darkness took him.

After listening to Liam explain some of what had happened in his nightmare, Shay had been worried about the demons that would enter Kia’s sleep. He hoped now that they had the connection with Castiel, whatever monster Kia needed to slay in his dreams wouldn’t be too bad.

Upon awakening, his gaze fell on Kia. He looked so peaceful lying there wrapped around Castiel, with their mate’s arm around him. No signs of stress marred Kia’s features, and Shay hoped that meant the monsters weren’t as bad as he had feared.

“Hello, beautiful,” Castiel said in a sleepy voice.

“Hello, mate,” Shay answered happily and placed a kiss on Castiel’s chest.

“Did you get a good nap?”

“Yes,” he answered with a smile as he stretched out beside Castiel.

  “Me, too,” Kia said softly.

Shay turned to face him and saw happiness in Kia’s eyes. A wave of relief washed over
him.

“How about we go take a shower and get ready to go see Aaron? And while we do, you two little imps can explain to me what really happens to you when you dreamwalk, Kia,” Castiel said as he gave them each a pointed look, telling Shay that they hadn’t fooled their mate at all. Castiel may not know exactly what was going on, but he knew there was more to tell.

As they showered, Shay and Kia confessed what happened to Kia after he dreamwalked and what they had come to find out about sex helping him, along with feeling connected to Shay as he slept. Shay could see that Castiel was not happy about them not sharing that information with him, but Kia quickly eased his worry by telling them that he slept peacefully. Liam’s monster did appear, but he blinked it away quickly and slept in peace with good dreams.

Shay had been shocked to hear that, but happy that Kia hadn’t suffered this time. He always worried about Kia taking in others’ demons and having to fight them, but knew there wasn’t much he could do about it except help him with what he could. Was it because they now had Castiel that Kia didn’t suffer this time? Would their connection with their wolf mate make these nightmares go away?

“I’m not happy that neither of you told me about this before, but I’m glad you didn’t suffer this time, Kia,” Castiel said as they dried off.

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you, mate, but I didn’t want you to worry or try to stop me from helping others because of it. With what I saw in Liam’s nightmare, I admit I was afraid this time would be bad, but it wasn’t. I think finding you may have something to do with that,” Kia replied as he pressed against Castiel’s side.

Castiel wrapped an arm around Kia’s waist and placed a soft kiss on his lips. “Is there anything else you need to tell me, or was that it?”

“Well, there is one more thing,” Kia answered shyly, his face glowing a slight pink.

“And what would that be?” Castiel asked, the concern evident on his face.
